Gabala city with over 1800 years of age had been more than 600 years as the capital of Caucasian Albania.
In Gabala region tobacco, wheat and barley are grown, cocoon is stored. Gabala city is located on the right bank of Demiraparanchay. Tikanlıchay, Qumchay, Demiraparanchay and Vandam rivers flow through this region.
There are many mineral water springs and fountains of pure water in forests around the city which is rich with walnut and chestnut. The average age of the trees here is more than 500 years. Some of them have been included in the list of trees protected by the state.
There are hundreds of historical and cultural monuments in the region: Albanian temple in the village Amili of IV-VIII centuries,  mosque in the village of Bum of XIX century,  Ustaszhan castle in in the village of Bayramkokha of IX-XIV century, mausoleum of the XVII century in the village of Shafili, Shıkhbaba pir of XVI century in the village of Hamzali, Komrad pir at the peak of mountain Komrad, Nic,  Haji Garib mosque in Nij village and the residence of  Bolu bey of XIX century,  mausoleums of Sheikh Badraddin and Sheikh Mansur of  XV century in the village Hazra.
There are defensive ancient tower in the city of Gabala (IX-XI centuries), the XVIII century mosque and the mausoleum of Imam Ali (XVIII-XIX centuries), Juma Mosque, as well a big historical and ethnographic museum. There are also recreational areas, hotel in the region.
